Vertical milling machines consist of spindle which can be tilted for angular cutting. Operations such as slot milling, T-slot milling, angular milling, flat milling etc can be performed using vertical milling machine, also drilling and boring and other operation too.Two cutting methods can be performed with this by moving the knee and by lowering or raising the quill. The other is the bed mill in which the table moves perpendicular to the axis of the spindle and the spindle moves parallel to its axis.
2- Horizontal Milling Machine
It consists of base, Column, spindle, overarm, knee, saddle, worktable. In this spindle is horizontal and parallel to the worktable. The cutter is moved up and down and is mounted on the arbor.
Unlike vertical milling machine, the spindle cannot be titled. Operations such as plain milling, gear cutting, form milling, straddle milling, gand milling etc can be performed.
