Milling Machine And It’s Types

Milling machine is used for the process of removing layers of material from the work piece, in which cutter rotate to remove the material. This process is called milling. The cutter rotates at a very high speed and thus removes metal at very high rate.

The material is removed in the direction of tool axis. Milling machine can hold more than one cutter at a time. Multiple tasks can be performed using milling machines, so they have wide range of applications in production work. They are usually used to machine flat surfaces, but can also produce irregular surfaces.

Milling machines are multipurpose machines which are capable of milling as well as turning materials. Milling can be done with a wide range of machine tools.

The original class of machine tools for milling was the milling machine (often called a mill). Milling is used for parts that require high accuracy and precision. Also parts that are hard to produce by additive manufacturing require a milling machine, for example wood or tungsten. In general the decision for a certain type of manufacturing depends on the combination of the two.

There are various types of milling machines used today, but they are mainly of two types:
