Magnetic gear leverages the magnetic field of powerful permanent magnets to rotate the mating parts.
These have been invented by Magnomatics’ co-founder, Dr. Kais Atallah, in 2001 and have found its use in many places.

I will use internal gears to explain, as it is quite more intuitive to understand.
The magnetic gear has 3 concentric rings as shown in the figure below. The shafts are connected with the inner and the outer rotor. The red and blue colors in the figure represent the north and south poles respectively.
