Doctors and dentists were, perhaps, the first one to recognize this fact as in most of the cases they use laughter and happiness as a natural way to treat or divert the mind of their patients in order to perform medical procedures.

The most common way to achieve this is to use Nitrous oxide, also known as Laughing gas. It has a chemical formula N2O. The basic principle on which these gas works is that it has the ability to increase the oxygen level in our body due to which the brain gets a feeling of being tickled and as a result, Laughing gas automatically shuts down other feelings. This gas is also known to act as a painkiller and due to this fact, it is widely used as a pain reliever by gynecologists when a woman gives birth to a child.

The ability to increase the oxygen levels has also made nitrous oxide/laughing gas very famous in the automotive industry and is widely used as a speed booster in engines with turbocharging capabilities. Racing cars are often equipped with nitro boosts which, if once triggered, often take the speed levels of the vehicle beyond the existing capacity of the engine.

This happens due to the fact that the engine requires oxygen to burn fuel and more the level of oxygen in the engine the more rampant will be the burning process of fuel. When nitrous oxide is used along with the existing level of oxygen in the engine, it pushes the oxygen level further to a very high degree and the fuel burns at a much higher rate, providing more power to the wheels than what its actual capacity is.
