Directional control valve-

These valves help in directing the fluid flow from one direction to another.  You are able to start, stop and manage the direction of the pressure flow medium (Hydraulic oil). Because of this functionality, these devices are also known as switching valves. They enable the engineer to direct the pressure flow and manage the whole system.

The Directional valves are available in different types and models like the spool valve, rotary slide valve, and the poppet valve.  Among them, the rotary slide valve is less preferred because the low capacity in operating the pressure.

Function of Directional Control valve-

The functionality of the directional control valve depends upon its number of operating ports and the respective spool positions. A distinctive directional valve consists of two spool positions and two working ports. One of the most commonly used control valves in this category is the 4/3- way valve.  Here the ratio in the name means four working ports and three switching or spool positions. These specifications are in accordance with the international standards.

What’s the need of directional control valves?

Such hydraulic valves navigate the flow of liquid medium in the system which is generally hydraulic oil. Here, the direction of the oil is dogged by the spool. For proper functioning of the system, it is necessary to select the appropriate directional control valve. A hydraulic engineer configures the size of the valve with respect to the flow and its ability to sustain the system pressure.

These hydraulic valves are available in variable mounting styles like flanged mounting, sub-plate mounting, and mounting of the pipeline.  These valves pass the pressure medium or the flow in an orderly trend. It is always directed towards a particular direction.
